Update 9/26/2020

Washington JFL

 Modified Fall 2020 program

Practice will be held at Oak Ridge Park, Tues and Thurs starting on Oct 1 thru Oct 22 from 5:30pm until 6:30pm or dusk.

Athletes will practice offensive and defensive drills with players similar in age.  If at all possible, age divisions will follow normal JFL divisions (5/6, 6/7, 8yo, 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, 14u).

Showcases will take place on Oct 17/18 and Oct 24/25. Times are to be determined once registration closes and age divisions are established.  Showcase locations are pending but hoping to use the turf at the high school.

The showcases will be an opportunity for the athletes to demonstrate the skills they have learned during practice.  Each teams showcase will be an hour long and no score will be kept and contact should be kept to a minimum.  The format will be 7 vs 7 or less if there is not enough athletes in a division.  Rotation of players thru the different positions will be strongly encouraged.  A coach will serve as the center so the ball can be cleaned/sanitized between each snap.  Coaches will use whistles to signify that the play is dead once a defensive player is in close proximity to the ball carrier.  Athletes may be asked to wear a specific colored shirt to the showcase to easily differentiate offense from defense.

Health protocols:

  • Each coach and athlete will be required to go thru health screening each day prior to practice and showcases.  This will include taking temp, answering screening questions and sanitizing hands.
  • Equipment will be cleaned/sanitized frequently.
  • Athletes should social distance by being 6 feet apart whenever possible.
  • Divisions will be no larger than 50 athletes and coaches.
  • Masks shall be worn by coaches at all times.
  • Athletes must have their own water/drink.  No sharing will be allowed.
  • Mouth pieces are required for all athletes

Update 9/18/2020

2020 Modified Activity
The JFLOCI Board of Directors voted to allow modified Area activity at the September board meeting. The IDPH has laid out guidelines for physical conditioning, practice, in-house flag football, and cheerleading. Our Area Directors did not want to give up on providing a youth sports outlet for the young athletes of our communities this Fall, so when presented with this safe and approved plan, they decided to move forward "for the kids"!

In conjunction with this decision, the Board of Directors also voted to host our inaugural Raffle Ticket Fundraiser with CASH PRIZES that will begin in the coming days!

Update 6/8/2020:

Due to COVID-19 and certain restrictions we are uncertain at this time whether or not we will have a 2020 JFL season.  Registration has been opened but no fees are being charged at this time.  We will continue to monitor the situation with hope. Once social restrictions are lifted and we can continue the planning process we will be sure to share information. If you have any questions please contact Lonnie Anderson, [email protected] or 309-696-4480.

Please stay tuned for information, as a program we will be transparent with everyone involved in Washington JFL.
